PHOTO QUALITY & SUBMISSION GUIDE

Our 3D software translates pixels into physical depth and geometry. The clearer and better lit your original photo is, the sharper and more detailed your finished 3D print will be off the build plate.

DEPARTMENT 01

Custom Statuettes (£35.00 Flat-Rate Run)

Converting a 2D photo into a full 3D statuette model requires high subject contrast and sharp feature definition.

✔ WHAT WORKS (GREAT PRINTS)
  • Clear Subject Framing: Full-body or waist-up shots where no arms, hair, or limbs are cut off by the camera frame.
  • Bright, Even Lighting: Natural daylight or bright room lighting that clearly defines facial features and clothes.
  • Sharp Focus & High Resolution: Original camera photos rather than low-res social media screenshots.
  • Clean Background Separation: The subject clearly stands out from whatever is behind them.
✖ WHAT FAILS (POOR DETAIL)
  • Heavy Shadows or Darkness: Dark night shots where the subject blends into the background.
  • Motion Blur or Out-of-Focus: Blurry or grainy pictures that lose edge details.
  • Cropped Limbs: Photos where heads, shoulders, or legs are cut off at the edge of the image.
  • Overlapping Groups: People standing tightly behind each other, making subject separation impossible.
DEPARTMENT 02

Backlit Lithophane Panels

Lithophanes rely on varying layer thicknesses to pass light through. High contrast between light and dark areas produces the best image depth.

✔ WHAT WORKS (GREAT PRINTS)
  • High Contrast: Strong mix of bright highlights and deep dark shadows.
  • Close-Up Subject Focus: Portraits, pets, and clear landscape shots.
  • Balanced Exposure: Sharp details on faces, hair texture, and clothing patterns.
✖ WHAT FAILS (POOR DETAIL)
  • Flat / Overexposed Lighting: All-white or washed-out photos with no shadow definition.
  • Ultra-Low Resolution: Distorted or pixelated files that produce rough surface textures.
// SLICE CHECK PROMISE

Every image submitted undergoes a manual slice inspection before hitting the active printer array. If we review your photo and feel it won’t yield a high-quality 3D print, we will contact you directly to request an alternative photo before starting production.
